So, I went on a quest—yes, like a knight in shining armor, but my sword was the internet. After much searching, I stumbled upon Google Calendar, and let me tell you, it’s been a total game changer. Here’s how I’ve turned this tech wonder into my life preserver:
1. **Color-Coded Chaos**: Every family member gets their own calendar color. Mom’s rocking pink, Harlow’s channeling her inner royalty with purple, and Phoenix? He’s a vibrant lime green (because obviously, he needs to stand out from the pack).
2. **App Attack**: Each family member has the free Google Calendar app on their iPhone. Yes, I’m making them tech-savvy at a young age. They can check the family schedule anytime, day or night—perfect for those late-night “Mom, what’s tomorrow’s plan?” emergencies.
3. **Pinned and Ready**: We have Google Calendar pinned at the top of every computer. It’s like the family’s digital welcome mat—instant access at the click of a mouse. No more rummaging through papers like a scavenger hunt gone wrong!
4. **Kitchen Command Center**: We even have a $100 amazon TV in the kitchen dedicated solely to displaying Google Calendar 24/7 through a internet app. It’s the smartest decision we’ve ever made—especially when it comes to avoiding morning chaos. It’s like having a personal assistant who never asks for a raise!
Now, I can effortlessly respond to “Hunny, when’s my doctor’s appointment?” with a nonchalant “CHECK THE CALENDAR!” And when my kid asks, “Mom, when’s hockey practice?” I can confidently say, “It’s right there in navy blue!”
The best part? I can stuff so much info in there—locations, notes, recurring events. I even get notifications! When we get a new sports schedule, I just snag the link from hockey, sync it to our Google Calendar, and boom! Instant updates if practice or game times change. I mean, it’s like magic, but without the fairy dust.
Plus, I can access it from anywhere. No need to be a tech wizard (though, let’s be real, I’m basically a control freak who’s mastered the art of scheduling). You can even invite specific people to their designated calendars. If my daughter wants to escape the chaos of her five brothers’ activities, she can just peek at her own schedule—talk about self-care!
**Note**: You will need a Google email, but don’t worry—it’s free! So get ready to take control of your life and give Google Calendar a big ol’ hug!

Thanks for this I did this after reading the blog and it has really helped make our lives run much smoother since everyone can see the family calendar. We even added in my sons step parents to his calendar so everyone knows what’s going on when my sons with us or with his Dad & his wife.
